Baby’s First Thunderstorm!

With a 20-day-old baby, you’re still caught doing those late-night feedings. In fact, it’s 3:20AM. About 30 minutes ago, I was jolted awake by the sound of my baby’s cries for one of his two (or three?) nightly feedings. Then, I realized that it wasn’t just an old quiet night; a severe thunderstorm had been brewing. I grew up in South Florida and all and recall the many millions of times there were thunderstorms and rainstorms, and I personally haven’t seen anything like this in New York City. The intensity of thunder and lightning was incredible. I even took a video that I’ll post once I actually wake up.

In the meantime, I just heard the cries of a still-hungry baby. Back to the nightly grind!

Update: Here is the lightning we saw as the thunderstorm was waning. There’s no sound in the video though, so you’re not missing anything on that front.
