Is it normal that he accents the wrong parts of all words all the time?
- David: Day-VID!
- Baby: Bay-BEE!
- Sleepy: Slee-PEE!
It’s cute but I can’t figure out how to tell him how to pronounce the words properly. Any tips?

I always repeat what my kids say. I do it happily and correctly. No need to make it clear you’re correcting… we’re parents, we’re always correcting in way – leading and teaching by example. So when he says “Day-VID!” say, “YAY! DAY-vid!” When he says, “Bay-BEE!”, say, “that’s right! BAY-bee!” He’ll adjust to your way. That’s what worked with my kiddos. It’s also a good habit for when they learn difficult words that sound like cuss words, and they continue to say them in public places. Like when Aidan learned “truck” it sounded like “f**k”. He would say it as we walked past the toy trucks in Target. So I just got in the habit of repeating (“translating”) what he said out loud. So he would say “f**k” and I would say, “That’s right Aidan! Truck!” and that word was conquered quickly.
Rinse. Repeat. 😉
Thanks. I’ve been doing that but he repeats it the wrong way. Maybe one day, he’ll get it.
