Mommy’s Lips.

David has his mommy’s lips. They’re big lips and the top lip is very full. This past season when it was cold, his lips would chap and you’d see obvious skin peeling on the top lip. I’d usually pull it off, since it was distracting to me and I’m sure it bothered him as well. Earlier this week, right before bed, he said to me “lip! lip!” and made me do it. Apparently I set myself up for that.

Earlier this week, the little man was going to be put down for a nap (he’s very good about naptime and even walks to his room in anticipation). I put him in his crib but he seemed agitated. He kept pointing and saying “on-dee! on-dee!” I had no idea what he was talking about. I said “well, okay, I’m taking you out of the crib. Tell me what’s bothering you.” He took a pair of pajamas from the top of his dresser and threw it in the laundry. (I hadn’t considered them laundry, but I decided to accept his desire to wash them.)

Speaking of naptime, I decided to watch TV (at a low volume) during naptime today. He knew it was on, and while he wasn’t mad at me, he kept saying “TV!! TV!!” and wanted me to turn it off so he could go to sleep. I finally made it much much lower to the point that I had to rely on close captioning. That worked. He’s got super-sensitive listening skills; he hears pindrops. I am not surprised about this one.

I mentioned our nighttime ritual, the reading of Night Night Little Pookie and Goodnight Sh’ma (I finally found a link online!). We read them together with David filling in the blanks. We also let him volunteer the title of the book. He always says “Night Night Little Pookie,” but Goodnight Sh’ma is relatively new, so he hasn’t gotten the title consistently correct just yet. This evening, he said that the title was “Night Night Little Sh’ma.” 😀

I don’t know if I should be sharing this in public, but I would recommend that nobody fart around him, because he knows what it is and doesn’t hesitate to broadcast it to the world. Repeatedly.

We watched a movie and there were some parts I didn’t exactly want David watching just yet. He didn’t do it at the right times, but he made me cover his eyes — not only with one hand, but with both. Of course, when it was a more opportune time to cover his eyes, he wouldn’t let me, but he gets the idea.
