Earlier this week, David noticed on a shirt I was wearing that said geek (which means I’m a geek) had strange characters on it. He was curious to know a little more about the “less than” and “greater than” symbols, since he recognized that they weren’t letters in the alphabet. I’m impressed that he took an interest in these non-standard characters. I told him (I think I’m wrong) that they were “carets” — “open carets” and “close carets.” The next day, he still remembered and pointed it out to me the following night!
