Deductive Reasoning for Yom Tov.

Wednesday night was the first night of Chanukah. It was also erev Thanksgiving, which is quite a big deal. With David not having school on Thanksgiving, he had a few questions.

On Wednesday, he was confused to realize that there’s school and work on Chanukah. He thought, like all other holidays, that it was a yom tov. He couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that it is still a day of melacha/work.

On Friday, David asked me if we could watch TV on Shabbos. His reasoning: it’s still Chanukah and you watch TV on Chanukah, so shouldn’t you be able to watch TV on Shabbos?

Nope, kiddo, not exactly.

On Friday, Brian was cleaning off his desk of all the papers that have accumulated there over the months. David got on the phone with Grandma and told her that Daddy was cleaning the papers for Pesach.

Yes, that one’s true.
