Bribery.

David isn’t allowed to watch TV at times. We don’t want it on school nights or school mornings. This morning, like every other school morning, David “forgot” and had the TV on at 6am which is ridiculous in itself. By the time I came downstairs, I was disappointed and told him to get ready for school. Now, he’s home as there’s an early dismissal due to the upcoming Jewish holidays, and he’s asking me for permission to watch TV. Technically, as it’s not a school night, I would say yes, except for the fact that he’s getting a little punishment now due to his consistent forgetfulness.

So… I told the little dude he can’t watch TV.

He told me, “If I give you a penny from my jar, would you let me watch TV?”

Nope, I explained, that’s not interesting to me.

“If I give you two or three pennies from my jar, would you let me watch TV?”

Nope, David, that’s not how it works, sir.
