David just came into the room to tell me the below, verbatim, about his and Sarah’s ages (Sarah is two, David is five):
“Sarah plus Sarah is four because there’s a two in each of them. And David plus David is ten.”
Very very true. This kid loves his math.
This is why he said that: “To emphasize the miracle (nes) and the number eight, the children are having fun realizing the different combination of numbers they can add together to make eight. The children had fun being participants in making human equations to create eight (4 girls plus 4 boys, 4 sets of boy-girl partners). They also enjoyed playing the game ‘Concentration’ where the goal was to match two playing cards whose sum was equal to eight.” — from his weekly school newsletter
