The little guy got a pair of ecco shoes today, which are known to be pretty expensive and high fashionable shoes. We bought them for $10 at this store called Footprince in New Jersey as part of its going out of business sale. We had this $10 coupon card so the shoes were originally $20 (after a pretty generous discount), though I felt bad to be walking into a store that is being liquidated. That wasn’t exactly part of the plan, and we didn’t even know about it. We thought it was a thriving children’s shoe store.
The shoes are white with different colors (reds, yellow, blues) and definitely not my first choice, but for $10 and them being a high end brand, I guess I can’t go wrong. I don’t think David or his parents will ever own a pair of eccos again.

We’re being tasked with finding preschools for the little man, and that is definitely harder than I’d have thought. There are schools close by: a school for developmentally challenged children is in my building’s basement; a viable school in the same building as my son’s pediatrician’s office is up the block (read: up a hill) but you need to be 3 and potty trained for eligibility. My kid is smarter than most kids his age, let alone 2 year olds, so I bet he could totally enroll in the 3s, but the potty trained part is something that needs a little work. We’ve been trying but he’s not exactly ready.
In the meantime, I’m evaluating one other option about a 15 minute walk away and will check out a class next Thursday. I’m also considering checking out another class in nearby areas next week as well. However, these schools are expensive! Full time preschool is about $16,000 annually. Yes, seriously. Considering I won’t ever do the public school thing and there are no charter schools in the neighborhood, I’m kind of without a choice in the matter!
Sometimes I wish homeschooling were a more viable and affordable option. 🙂
