2.5

Yesterday, my little guy turned 2.5 years old. We took him to the zoo so he could learn all about the animals. He saw tigers (and loved them), bears, polar bears (a sleeping one), giraffes, stinky ostriches, mice, a chinchilla (he seems to love those), peacocks, some bird breeds, and ducks. But I think the best part was the 4D movies. We saw a Dora and Diego (the Explorer) movie followed by the Polar Express in 4D. Now none of us have ever seen a 3D movie, but the 4D element was something pretty awesome.

It took awhile to convince David to wear the glasses, but when you do it too, he decides to follow suit. And well, to have a little 2 year old on your lap watching a 3D film is just one of those precious moments. Every few minutes, David would reach out trying to grab something onscreen, and when I’d specifically encourage him to “get it!” he’d go “real hard!!”

These 4D movies apparently introduce smells (chocolate, bananas, a rainforest) and effects (water, rainfall, snowfall, things shaking against your leg, a little jolt to your back, air on your neck). I wish more movies would adopt 4D films. It’s fun not just for the little ones but for their parents.
